There's something new at Pleasant Hill this year........
Have you heard about them?
.........HANDBELLS!
All grades in music class, throughout the year, are learning to play the handbells. They started by learning and practicing the correct way to hold them and the proper playing technique. First you pick up the bell by its handle and then turn it upside down. Next you bend your elbow and hold it near your shoulder. Finally, you extend your arm out and around with a single light flick of the wrist, and then finish by bringing your arm back to your shoulder. The students are learning to play chords with familiar songs such as, "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star," "Take Me Out to the Ballgame," and "The Itsy, Bitsy, Spider."
Be sure to ask your child about their experiences playing handbells in music class.
