Week of November 30, 2009
In chapter 7, The Death and Resurrection of Jesus, your child will deepen
their understanding of the meaning of the saving events of the last days of
Jesus on earth. At the last Supper, Jesus gave us the gift of his Body and
Blood, the Eucharist. On that night he was betrayed, arrested, and handed
over to Pontius Pilate for trial. Although not found guilty of any crime,
Jesus was put to death on the cross as a common criminal. On the third day
after his death and burial, Jesus was raised to a new life and for forty
days, appeared to the disciples on many occacions. After commanding them to
make disciples of all nations by baptizing and teaching others what he had
taught them, Jesus ascended to his father in heaven.
