In chapter 9, "The Good Shepherd: A Scripture Story," your child will learn
that the writers used images to help us understand the mystery of God's
love. One of these images is that of the shepherd. Psalm 23 describes God
as the Shepherd of Israel. In John's Gospel, Jesus describes himself as the
Good Shepherd. Joined in Christ at Baptism, all the baptized are called to
put on the mind of the Good Shepherd. We are to care for one another as
Jesus revealed God cares for us. Living the Corporal Works of Mercy is one
way we can follow Jesus the Good Shepherd.
