Week of Nov. 2 and Nov. 9
READING
This week we finished Pleasing the Ghost. Our binder extra credit due date
will be Thursday, Nov. 5th. The other due date will be Monday, Nov. 9th.
Please proofread and improve the written work with your student. Don't
forget to sign the grading page.
We will be focusing on context clues and making connections these two weeks.
Our book report for November is a biography book report. The students have
received a handout and selected a biography from the "Who Was _____?" series.
The students will also create a triarama in class to go with the report
toward the end of the month. The handout and triarama are due December 3rd.

ENGLISH
We are working on the "Organization" trait. We wrote directions to places
in the school. We will be writing a "How To" piece emphasizng
Organization. The students will notice and use sequence words. We continue
the grammar unit over Nouns.

SPELLING
The students will be assigned a spelling lesson each Monday. It will be due
the following Thursday. Their spelling books may be taken home anytime to
study/complete the assignment. They will take a spelling test over their 20
unit words and 5 challenge words at the end of each week with at least 4
days of school. These tests will be graded and sent home the day they are
taken. If you can't seem to find your spelling words, go to:

VOCABULARY
The students will be assigned a vocabulary lesson each Monday. It will be
due the following Thursday. Their vocabulary books may be taken home
anytime to study/work from. They will take a vocabulary test over their 10
unit words at the end of each 4 or 5 day week. The test will consist of the
students writing the appropriate word when given the word's definition. They
will also be required to pronounce each word correctly. Every third week
they will have a review assignment and multiple choice test over the
previous two units.
