What is a typical day like in kindergarten?

First of all, there is no such thing as a typical day in
kindergarten. There is always something new to explore or talk
about, but a semi-typical day may look like this:

We start our day with prayer, calendar and sharing time. Then we
move into our learning centers. There are usually three centers
occuring at the same time--one teacher directed, one review or
exploratory and one play. The children rotate through all three
centers and then it's time for recess.

After recess, we have snack and story time before heading to one
of our specials. We usually have some kind of large group
activity before we end our day with prayer.

When does my child go to church?

The morning class and those kindergartners enrolled in the full
day option attend Mass with the rest of the school on Thursdays
at 8:40. Families are welcome to attend. The afternoon class
goes over with Ms. Fewins on most Tuesdays for our own time of
prayer and discussion.

Does my child have snack in kindergarten?

Our school-wide policy on snack is as follows:

Students store their individual snacks in their
backpacks.

Students may bring several days worth of snacks as long
as the snacks can be stored in their backpacks.

Students may not share or trade snacks with other
students.

Snacks should be nutritious and should be a reasonable
amount of food. This is not a substitute for a meal.

What should my child bring for snacks?

We try to encourage healthy food choices in kindergarten. When
choosing your child's snack for the day, please help your child
make nutritious choices. Popular favorites have been healthy
snack crackers, pretzels, bananas, carrot sticks, and cheese
sticks. Please avoid sugary snacks as much as possible.

Part of a making healthy food choices is to remember that those
