St. Patrick's Day Project

We took some time before Spring Break to apply the skills we learned in math class.

We joined 456 classrooms from the United States, Canada and Mexico in an internet project to prove the hypothesis that there are more green clovers than any other marshmallow shape in a box of Luck Charms cereal.

Mrs. Schmidt divided a 16oz. box of Luck Charms cereal into 18 individual baggies. We each took our share and seperated out the different marshmallow shapes to count them. To prove the hypothesis we each tallied our individual marshmallow shapes, then used our tally sheets to create individual bar graphs using the Create a Graph site. We added our totals up to create a class tally and graph. The hypothesis was correct!

We proved that there are more green clovers than any other marshmallow shape!
