Hello 5th Grade Parents and Students!
Just a little information about me. . . I graduated from Benedictine
College with a B.S. in elementary education and a minor in art. GO RAVENS!
I also have earned a Religious Studies Certificate from Benedictine College.
I am currently certified to teach all subjects, grades K-8th and I continue
to take on-going educational courses to update my teaching licensure.
My first two years of teaching were as a fifth grade teacher at St. John
the Baptist School in Kansas City, Kansas. I then ran a licensed family
daycare out of my home for several years so that I could be at home with my
four children when they were young. MY, HOW TIME FLIES! In 1996, when my
youngest child entered second grade at St. Joseph's School, I returned to
teaching and was fortunate that there was a fifth grade position available at
St. Joseph's School. Yay!
My husband, Kevin, and I have been married for almost 31 years. My three
sons are Patrick, David, and Blake -- all in their twenties. My daughter,
Caitlin, just graduated from K-State. So...YES,...I AM BEGINNING to
experience that "Empty Nest Syndrome." I guess that I will just have to
focus my extra time and energy on becoming the best teacher ever!
This is my eighteenth year teaching at my FAVORITE GRADE LEVEL = fifth
grade, and I look forward to meeting all of you, and having a WONDERFUL year!
I hope to incorporate "The Three R's" into my classroom ...
...RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, and RELATIONSHIPS. As a fifth
grader, your child will be encouraged to show RESPECT for
everyone...their parents, teachers, and especially for
their fellow classmates. The students will also be
encouraged to be RESPONSIBLE for their homework assignments,
checking their classroom mailboxes each day, performing
jobs within the classroom, etc. My third goal is to incorporate
CHRIST lIFE SKILLS by helping the students learn effective
communication skills, practice solving disagreements, and
in general, treating others the way in which they would like
to be treated. In one word, I am trying to help them build
RELATIONSHIPS.
