EXTRA CREDIT PROJECTS

EXTRA CREDIT PROJECTS DUE DATE 7th week in each quarter: EACH PROJECT
can ONLY be done once per student. Choose only 1 project per quarter.
1. GRADE 5:
A. Make a vocabulary book
in Spanish for at least 20 of the words from this quarter. A picture for
each vocabulary word, its meaning in ENGLISH and a short SPANISH sentence
(grade 4) using the word must be included. This will be worth up to 5
10 points for grade 5.
B. PRACTICE THE VOCABULARY AT HOME WITH PARENT OR SIBLING: (GRADE 5) Make
flash cards of the current vocabulary words,(example: Vocabulary Worksheet 1-
2). Practice with a parent or sibling. Bring a note from parent stating that
you have practiced these words and know them by heart. Receive 2 extra
credit points per Vocabulary sheet (1-1, 1-2, 1-3, etc).
2. GRADE 6-8:
SPANISH -SPEAKING COUNTRIES
Make a travel folder about a Hispanic country or city (in English). This may
be done on the computer or without the computer, but must be typed and
contain photos of the country or city. Example of information to include
about a country: name of country, map, capital, other important cities,
name of president or chief of state, name of money and it's value in
comparison to the dollar, tourist attractions, most important products, and
some interesting facts. Good quality projects can earn up to 20 points
(this could mean a raise of 1-2 points in your grade average.)
BE SURE TO DOCUMENT YOUR SOURCES: If using the internet, USE SPECIFIC
WEBSITES-- not just google.com, wikipedia.com or ask.com, etc. Do a cut
and paste of the website you are using.
NOTE: 5th Grade students will do a power point project on a specific country
in the 4th quarter
2. ALL GRADES:
A. PLAY THE the games and activities found in the Practice and
Activity sections in their grade level on the website. Teacher Website (See
individual sites for directions). Bring a copy of the "winners" page, signed
by a parent and receive extra-credit for each game won. (Grades 1-3: 1
sticker per game--limit 5 per quarter Grade 4-8: 1 pt. per game: limit 5
per quarter).
B. FAMOUS HISPANIC CHARACTER: Research a famous singer, actor, sports
person, polititian, etc. who is of Hispanic background. Write a short
biography (In ENglish), telling me where he or she is from, what he or she
does, and how their culture has positively influenced added to our culture.
(At least 1 page, double-spaced, typed. Don't forget to include your sources
(up to 10 points)
