Parent Conferences

Wow!!!  Wow!!!   Wow!!  You are the most involved group of parents any teacher could ever dream of having.  You came in for that parent conference and showed your child that what he/she is doing at school is of uppermost importance to you.  How lucky these children are to have parents like you who are so very supportive of their educational walk.  I thank you for coming to your parent/teacher conference and your child thanks you. J

Fall Party

A GIANT thank you goes to Mrs. Kessler and  Mrs. Duryea’s sixth grade classes.  They hosted our class for a fun filled afternoon of party activities.  Our class was divided into groups of four and taken through a rotation of fun, fun, fun.  The children loved every moment of the experience!

Time Change

Don’t forget…Sunday is when the time changes.   You will “fall back” an hour.

Conference Time

This coming Monday and Tuesday will be VERY important days. Mrs. Sanders and Mrs. McCrary will be meeting with you to let you know how your child is progressing.  Here is a quick run through on all we will be discussing.  We will share with you a Primary Progress Map that shows where your child will be headed throughout the KY Primary Program.  We will share your child’s progress report and show you specific information from assessments.  The assessment information will let you know what your child knows and the progress report will show how your child applies that knowledge.  The time we have scheduled for you are precious minutes.  Not only will we be sharing where your child is in the continuum of learning, we will show you where we are headed!  You will not want to miss this time.  We will make EVERY effort to stay on schedule.  One conference that runs over by five minutes can ultimately throw every conference off for an evening.  Because we want to assure a smooth evening we ask that you make every effort to be prompt for our meeting.  Mrs. Sanders and Mrs. McCrary both t hank you!

SNACK WEEK:  A-D

I simply must brag on you all….you have done a terrific job of getting snacks to school this past month.  Kiss your brain!!!

The copy machine is still on the “sick” side.  Becasuse of our limited ability to print copies you will see less home work and communication headed your way for the next little while.  Please keep an eye out for notes in the yellow folder.  We ALWAYS have something going on. J

Teddy Bear Sleepover

How exciting Wednesday was!  The children discovered the bears were less than well behaved as they spent the night at school on Tuesday evening.  I am certain your child has shared what his/her bear managed to do overnight.  Mrs. Evans had a stern visit with the bears but since the children promised they would clean up the mess the bears made and then visit with their bears about the importance of being a good citizen…the bears avoided getting a discipline report.  Whew!   This sleepover has become such a tradition at Cumberland Trace many teachers stop by to check out the scene and THEY get involved in the fun.  What a terrific learning community Cumberland Trace is.  Everyday I feel fortunate to be a part of such a terrific place.

Fall Party

Our first official party of the year is quickly headed our way!  This Friday we will be having some traditional fun.  Your child may wear his/her costume to school on Friday.  I do have a HUGE request.  Please do not send in any loose items with your child.   A mask is fine (and will only be worn during the party).   Any other accessories that are not worn need to stay at home.  I simply cannot promise they would not get lost during the course of the day and I would hate for your child not to have necessary parts of his/her costume on Saturday evening.  I am sending home a request for help with the party.   If you are able to help I anyway please mark the attached form and send it to school Monday or Tuesday.   Tuesday afternoon you will get a confirmation sheet.  Thank you in advance for making this a fun afternoon.

Allstar

We have a new Allstar!!   Houseen J. is an Allstar!  He recognizes all the letters of the alphabet fluently, lowercase and capital.  Way to go, Houseen!

Parent Conferences

Wow!!  I am so pleased….no, let me make that even stronger…I am THRILLED with your response to signing up for the parent conferences.  Almost all of you have signed up for a time.   I sent home your confirmation in your child’s yellow folder.   Mrs. Sanders and look forward to sharing the terrific progress your child is making.  These children amaze me everyday!

Because our copy machine is down I am putting additional information on our class website.  Hopefully everything will be up and running next week.

Much of the information listed in this week’s newsletter is straight from Dr. Evans Friday Notes.  I have added additional information for our class (and Mrs. Sanders’ class).

IMPORTANT!! Bears Are Headed Cumberland Trace Way!

Mrs. Sanders and McCrary’s classes will host a Teddy Bear Sleepover Monday night.  Your child may bring a teddy bear to school on Monday (or any stuffed animal).  The bears will be staying overnight for a bear sleepover.  Sorry…no children allowed at this sleepover…just bears. J  On Tuesday the children may wear pajamas to school for pj day!!!  Please – no slippers.  I recommend tennis shoes since we will be going outside if the weather permits.   Along with the teddy bear your child may bring any items he/she thinks the bear will need for the sleepover.  In the past some children have brought small pillows, small blankets, even bear toothbrushes and teddy bear pjs.  J  This is a fun, fun experience for the children.

THANK YOU!!!

Thank you so very much for your incredible support of Cumberland Trace by signing up to volunteer at our booth and sending in donations for our Fishing for Dollars booth and the Silent Auction.  I am so proud to be the teacher of these wonderful children.  I literally brag about how incredible they are everywhere.  The”icing on the cake” comes when I can brag about how wonderful and supportive their parents are too!

Parent Conferences

Watch for information in your child’s folder for information concerning your parent/teacher conference.  Mrs. Sanders and I will be meeting with the parents of our reading and math students to touch base with you concerning your child’s progress.  We will meeting with parents in November during late afternoon and early evening hours to best meet your schedules.  We will be flexible because our intent is to meet with 100% of our students parents.
