A Little About Mrs. McCrary

Welcome to this website! I am glad you came to visit via the internet. I am Patrice McCrary and I
have the good fortune to be the teacher of twenty-eight wonderful, fun-filled kindergarten
students. Every day is an adventure!
This is my 22nd year of teaching. I am a National Board Certified Teacher. I gained certification in
November 2002. I am proud to be a part of the group of educators who have taken on this challenge.
If you want more information on this certification I have a link on my links page. I have also been
priviledged to be recognized by Who's Who Among America's Teachers for three years (2004, 2005,
2006).
On October 30, 2002 I was named 2003 Kentucky Teacher of the Year. I was honored and
humbled to have the opportunity to represent the teachers of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The
year was an exciting one. I had the opportunity to meet President and Mrs. Bush in the Oval Office,
travel throughout the commonwealth speaking to various groups and organizations and spend a fun
filled week at space camp with the other state teachers of the year.
USA Today named me to the 2006 USA Today All USA Teacher Team. I was one of twenty-one
teachers representing teachers all across America. January, 2008 I was inducted into the inaugural
class of the Kentucky Teacher Hall of Fame. There is a link showing the presentation in Frankfort on
my third link site. Just this summer I was inducted into the National Teachers Hall of Fame. The Hall
of Fame is in Emporia, Kansas. The website is www.nthf.org if you are interested in
any information concerning the hall of fame and other inductees. There were five inductees this year
and I was the only lady AND only elementary teacher. :) I am humbled by these honors but the
greatest accomplishment I cherish is seeing your child be successful.
I am well blessed in my personal life as well. Mr. McCrary and I have been married for 32 years and
we have two children. Our son, Chris, graduated from Univ. of Dayton Law School in May of 2005
and is an attorney in E-town and our daughter, Alison, is a graduate of Georgetown College and
is a part of the business world in Lexington. She most recently completed her Masters of Business
Administration at Eastern KY University.
Also working with your child is my wonderful assistant, Mrs. Linda King. Linda and her husband
have a special place in their hearts for Cumberland Trace because both of their daughters attend
C.Trace! You will hear the children fondly speak of Mrs. King often.
Because I know how it feels to be a parent with a child in school I have always made this pledge to
the parents of my students: I will ALWAYS work to be the type of teacher for your child that I have
always wanted for my own two children. There is no higher goal possible than that.

After you visit the site please email me using the email icon found at the top right of the home
page and let me know what you think. I am open to suggestions for other information you would like
to see here. Also, be sure to go to the newsflash link to sign up for email notifications from me.
That means some days you will get updated information even before your child gets home from
school! :)
Thanks!
Mrs. McCrary

Mission For The Class

The mission of our classroom is "Everyone can and will learn with joy." I have a strong conviction that a
child's first experience with school can certainly be a "make or break" experience. If that kindergarten
year is a positive one that leads to a thirst for more learning, then I have helped a child begin an
educational adventure that can be a lifetime of a love of learning. My quest for a positive climate that
supports discovery and risk-taking leads to a classroom of tiny teachers, scientists, inventors,
architects and more. We are a family of learners who celebrate successes on a daily basis.
