All District Band Information

Wednesday , November 14th – Deadline to submit .
Saturday, December 1st – Live auditions at Shelby East Middle School. Students will be assigned a 5 minute audition time somewhere between 9am and 2pm. Please indicate when you email your intent to audition what time segment works best for your schedule.
Friday and Saturday January 11-12 – All District Band Clinic (for those students who are selected) at Martha Layne Collins High School in Shelbyville. Students will be transported by school bus to and from rehearsals on Friday morning and evening and on Saturday morning. Parents are expected to attend the concert and transport students home following the concert. All students must participate in all rehearsals in order to be allowed to participate in the concert.
Friday and Saturday January 18-19 – Make Up dates for the clinic only if there is need to cancel the clinic on the 6th and 7th due to weather.
All District Band Fees – There is a $5.00 audition fee that needs to be sent in with the registration form or (email). Make checks payable to NOMS band and I will send one check to the district for all auditions. There will be a $25.00 clinic fee to cover bus, music, and conductor’s fees if selected to the band.
Audition Procedures – It will be the responsibility of the students/parents to provide transportation to Shelby East. Each audition will last only about 5 minutes. You will be given a specific audition time as soon as I get the schedule from the district coordinator. I would plan to arrive at least 30-45 minutes prior to your assigned audition time. Upon arrival you will check in, find your audition room, then proceed to the warm up room to warm up and practice until your audition time. Arrive at the audition room 5 minutes before your scheduled time in case they are running ahead. Results will be emailed to the directors the following day after all scores have been tabulated. For percussionists and any student who plays multiple instruments (ex. Bass Clarinet & Clarinet or Alto Sax and Bari Sax) you may audition on multiple instruments and are encouraged to do so. The auditions are $5.00 per audition. If you plan on auditioning on more than one instrument you will need to indicate your preference should you be selected on more than one instrument.
Audition Registration Procedure – Simply send me an email with the following info: 1) your intent to audition, 2) if auditioning on more than one instrument, indicate which instrument you prefer in case you are selected on more than one, 3) if you have another event on the day of the audition please indicate what times you will be available to audition between 9am and 2pm, 4) your T-shirt size in case you are selected. Then send in a check for the total number of auditions by November 14th.
