Although Barack Obama was elected on November 4, 2008, he won't actually 
become president until January 20, 2009 when he is officially inaugurated 
and sworn in as president in Washington, D.C.  This means George W. Bush 
will continue to be president until January 20.  What is the term that is 
used to refer to a president (or other political officer) during the time 
between the election and the inauguration of the next president?

All presidential debates scheduled for Sept. 26, Oct. 7, and Oct. 15 will 
start at 9pm on the major news networks and cable news networks.

Be sure to also check out the Vice Presidential debate which airs Oct. 2 at 
9pm.
