I am incredibly excited about the 2008-2009 school year! This will be my
third year as a "full-timer" at North, although I was a substitute teacher
for eight years prior to that time. In a "previous life," I was a master's-
level social worker, and I co-owned/wrote/edited a local publication,
the "Kentuckiana Family" magazine.
I have been married for 23 years to an engineer. I have a son who will be a
junior at UK and a daughter who will be a freshman at U of L this fall.
(Aargh! Those divided loyalties........what's a mother to do?! :) I am a
basketball fanatic, and I also enjoy reading mysteries, walking, working
with the NOMS academic team as the (writing) composition coach and Future
Problem Solving and Quick Recall "co-coach" with Mrs. Green, and spending
time with my family and friends (including my three "feline family members").
My overall mission for my language arts classes is to instill in each
student a lifelong passion for learning as each continues to "hone" a
plethora of skills, including those in the literary analysis and
grammatical 'arenas!' I am anxious to get to know each and every one of my
students and parents and to begin our first unit, entitled "Coming of
Age."
