The 2nd Annual NOMS Smath is open to any student grades 6 - 8 that wants to complete an independent science investigation. It is wide open to ANYTHING you want to do! We will meet about twice a month to work on it at school. The Expo will be held in the spring. More specifics will be on the website, but here are some details for now.

• Your project can be absolutely anything! You can conduct a traditional science investigation, build something (an engineering project), or do a survey or statistics project. Pick something that you enjoy and are interested in. If you want to do something but don't know what, see me and I can help!
• Once you pick your project, you will need to talk about it with me so I can help you and make sure you're on the right track.
• Use a special science notebook (composition book) to collect your data, take notes for your research, etc.
• For your presentation, you will need to make a tri-fold board. It should have the following information:
• Abstract (see PowerPoint below)
• Introduction
• Research Question or Purpose of the Project
• Materials
• Procedure
• Data (charts and graphs)
• Conclusion
• References
• I will put your projects into categories (physical science, engineering, life science, etc.) and will give PRIZES to outstanding projects in each category!
