Dear Parents/Guardians,
I would like to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Julie Abbott
and I am the St. MAM CDC Director. I received my Bachelor’s degree
in Sociology/Psychology with a focus in Elementary Education. My husband
Matt and I have been married for 10 1/2 years and we have a 7 yr old daughter
Kayla, a 3 yr old son Ethan, a miniature schnauzer named Ocean, some fish
and turtles.
Previously, I was a Director of an Elementary’s After-School/Summer
Program. I had the opportunity to increase my knowledge and skills while
developing a program that encompassed curriculum along with a fun
atmosphere. Being a Director, allowed me the versatility to be a teacher,
supervisor, nurse, disciplinarian, coworker, bookkeeper and friend. Each
day I had the opportunity to collaborate with our children, their families,
staff, school officials and outside providers.
Prior to that, I was employed with Seven Counties Services. For five years
I worked in Shelby, Spencer, Henry and Oldham counties. For the first 3
years, I worked individually with children, ages 3 – 18 that were diagnosed
with behavior disorders. They needed help & support at home, school and
within the community. After my daughter’s birth, I switched to an
administrative position that allowed me to collaborate with many different
professionals & assist in the continuation of the IMPACT program.
I have had the wonderful opportunity to utilize my background and skills
and implement them into this program for the past 3 years. I look forward to
many more years as I continue to meet each child(ren), parent(s), &
grandparent(s) as you visit or become a part of our extended family.
