enrolled in Band Class and must participate in Concert Band, Marching Band,
and Pep Band. Any exceptions must be in the form of an independent study
and must be approved by the Band Director and the Guidance Counselor.
Students may have the option to participate in various chamber ensembles and
Jazz Band. All students are encouraged to take Private Lessons and may
receive partial reimbursement from the Scott High School Band Boosters.
Students will be exposed to a variety of musical styles. Instruction will
be based on the Band Directors best judgment as well as the National
Standards for Arts Education, the Kentucky Core Content and Program of
Studies for the Arts and Humanities and any curriculum expectations set
forth by the Kenton County Schools and Scott High School. Students will
perform before live audiences at regularly scheduled concerts, football
games and basketball games. Students may be given the opportunity to
perform at parades and civic functions as deemed suitable by the Band
Director.
What is the attendance policy?
All published rehearsals and practices are mandatory. Any unexcused absence
from such an event shall result in the lowering of the students grade. All
excused absences begin with informing the director before the absence
occurs. An absence will be considered excused only when the absence is
deemed unavoidable by the Director.
Are there band fees?
There is an annual band fee for each band member and payment required for
the Spring Trip (not mandatory but strongly encouraged). Details below:
ANNUAL BAND FEE - $175.00
$175 - Band fees due by pre-band camp JULY 22nd (checks payable to Scott
Band Boosters). The Kroger funds CAN be used for this expense.
The band fee that each family pays covers HALF of the educational expenses
for each band member while the other half is covered by Band Booster
Fundraisers. Scott Band Boosters have Kroger Cards available for use to
help families offset these expenses. The Kroger Cards are best used by
sharing them with friends /families/co-workers who shop or will shop at
Kroger or Kroger owned stores nation wide. Every time money is added to the
gift card 4% is donated back to the band and into your students account.
Many families have taken advantage of this opportunity and have been able to
significantly reduce their cost. Please contact Stacy Hood Kroger
Chairperson at 578-0855 to purchase Kroger Cards. Kroger Card information is
also posted on the Band Website.
The boosters take the time and effort to separate each students card(s) and
keep record of their Kroger account for band fees, spring trip fees, folder
fees if selected to All State or Select band etc. Please take advantage of
this to help reduce your cost.
NO STUDENT will be denied membership into Scott Bands. Hardship reduction
of fees will be considered on an individual basis. Please talk with Mr.
Moody if you have any questions.
100% of the fees collected are associated with music education for your
child. The breakdown of how your fees are used is as follows:
Instruction - 25%
Music/Production - 15%
Uniform - 15%
Travel/Clinics - 25%
Equipment - 10%
Awards/Incentives - 10%

the trip is to expose students to a variety of musical opportunities through
meaningful performances and reputable venues. Students unable to
participate in the Spring Trip should inform Mr. Moody as soon as possible.
