SHARK Folder

Student Homework And Resoure Keeper

...helping to build student organization & responsibility...

Each Kindergarten student will receive a very important and very special SHARK notebook this school year! Each student's SHARK will assist in promoting organization and responsibility while in Kindergarten. In addition, the SHARK will serve as a means for daily parent/teacher communication. All students are responsible for their SHARK and must take special care to ensure that their SHARK lasts the entire school year. Students are responsible for bringing their SHARK to school each day as well as taking it home each evening. Please view your child's SHARK each evening as to assist with any homework, view daily behavior, communicate with me, and receive your child's graded work.

What will I find in my SHARK?

"Left" at Home Pocket

Found on the left hand side of your child's SHARK is the "Left" at Home Pocket. The "Left" at Home Pocket is the first thing that you will see when opening your child's SHARK. This pocket serves as a safe place for your child's graded / completed work, calendars, lunch menus, school notices, and any and everything that can be "Left" at Home. Please check this pocket nightly as to share in your child's day and to receive important classroom and school information. Please take all papers out of this pocket each night to be "Left" at Home so your child's SHARK can be cleanly returned to Kindergarten each day.

Shark Fin

The "Shark Fin" is the next component of the SHARK that you will see. The "Shark Fin" is a zip compartment where you can send important things to school! Please place all teacher notes, lunch money, permission slips, book orders, bus notes, and other important items in the zippered pocket. The "Shark Fin" will help transport your child's important items to school safely each day.

Please do not use the "Shark Fin" for school supplies.

Daily Schedule

Where can you find Mrs. Freeman's "All-Star" Students? Take a peek our Kindergarten Daily Schedule to view a listing of subject areas and their times, as well as our weekly Itinerant schedule.

Homework Calendar Found in a clear sheet protector, your student's monthly Homework Calendar will alert you of all homework assignments, Monday - Thursday. Because homework calendars will be given at the beginning of each new month, you will be able to view the expectations of each week and the entire month! Please refer to your child's Homework Calendar each night so as to assist your Kindergarten student! Many thanks in advance for your educational guidance and support at home!

Bring "Right" Back Pocket  Found on the right hand side of your child's SHARK is the Bring "Right" Back Pocket. In this pocket you will find any classroom and school papers, permission slips, and other important documents that need to be looked at, signed, and send "right" back to school. Please check this pocket nightly and send all papers back as soon as possible!

Daily & Weekly

Behavior Log

To review your child's daily and weekly behavior each day, please take a peek at their Daily & Weekly Behavior Log, found in the Bring "Right" Back Pocket of your child's SHARK. This behavior log will let you know which behavior color (green - acceptable; blue - one infraction; yellow - multiple infractions; red- unacceptable behavior) your child received each school day. Please remember that I am always available for a conference at any time to discuss your child's progress and behavior in our Kindergarten classroom.

Please ALWAYS praise your child's good classroom behavior!
