Football After leading the A.C. Steere third-grade football team to a Souper Bowl championship last year, Sean Rainer will be moving up with the boys and coaching the fourth-grade football team next school year. Keep up to date on facebook "ACSteere Football".
Although the teams in the league frequently bear the name of the school that most of the players attend, these teams are not officially affiliated with Caddo Parish Public Schools. This is a YMCA-governed league.
Bill Smith will be coaching the third-grade team for 8-year-old boys. This will be the first year of tackle football for this age group, so practice will start in mid to late July to get the boys accustomed to tackling. |

Running Club The Gator Running Club is a parent run club that meets from 3:00-3:30 on Wednesday afternoons at the track adjacent to the school. Our club is open to all 1st thru 5th graders. Kindergarteners are welcomed to come if they have an older sibling who will also be participating. The goal of the club is to get the kids active! We encourage movement on the track.
Each week our members are asked to wear their Running Club t-shirt and tennis shoes. The wearing of the t-shirt reminds the parent of their obligation to pick their child up at the track at 3:30 and it reminds the child's teacher that they are a Running Club participant. All children should wear their Running Club t-shirts to school if they plan on participating that day.
Running Club will be held every Wednesday unless Channel 12 Morning News reports a 60% or greater chance of rain. At that time it will be cancelled. Contact Amy England at lillieann2003@hotmail.com or 518-5918 if you have any questions or if you can volunteer to help. |

Gumbo Games Does your child have a physical or visual impairment, but the heart of a champion? GUMBO (Games Uniting Mind and Body) strives to support students with disabilities in developing active minds, self confidence, dignity, discipline, competitive spirit and comradeship. Like other competitive sporting events, GUMBO competitions offer athletes a contest with self, challenging each person to improve performance, strength, speed, endurance and coordination. The athletes competing in GUMBO are not mentally disabled. Their eligibility for the competition comes from having a physical disability or visual impairment, and they compete with athletes who have similar or like impairments. Regional competition is held each spring in Shreveport. To learn more, go online now! www.doe.state.la.us |
