I am a New Orleans area native who has returned to St. Tammany Parish with my
family after fourteen years in southeastern Florida. I have an undergraduate
degree in Biological Anthropology from Harvard University, and a Master’s
Degree in Child Development and Early Childhood Education from Wheelock
College in Boston. I have spent 19 of the past 24 years teaching—-in
Louisiana, Massachusetts, and Florida—-from preschool to high school,
including science, geography, physical education, fourth and fifth grade,
special education, and school administration.
Since 1994 I have had an auxiliary career that pairs my love of paddling
(canoes and kayaks) with my love of teaching: as a paddle sport instructor,
trainer, author, and consultant. This work not only led me to my husband but
has provided me and my family opportunities for travel across North America,
to Iceland and Greenland, the Netherlands and Germany, the Bahamas and
Brazil.
