About Mrs. Magnuson...

I was born on February 19 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. I moved to St.
Tammany Parish in 1987, at the age of eight. I grew up in Covington,
graduating from Covington High School in 1997. My father, Ed, and mother,
Red, own an awning business in Covington. My older sister, Courtney, and
her husband, Jeremy, live outside of Washington, DC.

I have known teaching was my calling since I was in kindergarten. I began
working in early childhood development when I was 17, in preparation for my
future career. I attended Southeastern Louisiana University, where I
received my B.A. in Elementary Education in 2004.

I have worked at Abita Springs Middle School since 2005, teaching fourth
grade for two years and then moving up to fifth. I am thrilled to have
found a home at Abita Middle working with your children. I am the Yearbook
Coordinator and Student Council Advisor.

I live in Slidell with my husband, AJ, and our son, Colten. I have a
step-daughter, Kaylie, who lives in Abilene, TX. We also have a miniature
Australian Shepherd, Louie. In my free time I like to read, cook, bowl,
and hang out with my family.
