Please be sure that your child is reading their story each week. Check their comprehension by asking,
Who is the story about?
Where does the story take place?
When does the story take place?
What is the problem?
How is the problem solved?

Your child should practice retelling what they have read as well.
Retelling should include;
1. An opening sentence, such as, 'This story was about...'
2. Include who the story is about
3. Where and when the story takes place.
4. The main idea of the story.
5. Important details that support the main idea in the order as it happened using 'time order' words.
    (First, Then, Next, Also, Last)
