Mr. Costilow has been a music educator for 24 years. He taught for 17 years
in Orleans Parish and 8 years in St. Tammany Parish. Also, Mr. Costilow
taught 3 years as band director for First Baptist Christian School
in Slidell,LA.
Mr. Costilow is also presently serving as assisant orchestra director at
First Baptist Church in Slidell,LA.
He is married to Eileen, who is a library aide at Little Oak Elementary. He
has a daughter who graduated from LSU and a son currently attending SLU in
Hammond.
Mr. Costilow has 2 retired greyhounds(Vinnie and Fiddle), a papillion
(Tobyjack), a cat (Baby), and 2 cockatiels(Big Bird and Little Bit).
As a hobby, Mr. Costilow is involved in WWII re-enactments and impressions
with The New Orleans Living History of The American Military at the D-Day
Museum.
He also enjoys restoring vintage automobiles of which he has a 1962 Ford
Fairlane Sedan, 1963 Ford Fairlane 2dr Hardtop and a 1964 Ford Fairlane
Custom Ranch Station Wagon.
To introduce students to instrumental expression of music by providing the
knowledge of and/or performance in the following areas:(1)tone quality,(2)
technical training of basic playing fundamentals for an individual's
instrument,(3)development of skills to participate in music making
activities,(4)development of skills in experiencing music and making choices
in music,(5)instilling values,knowledge, and skills that enable students to
pursue musical experiences throughout their lives.
