*I just completed my 4th year here at Abney. I have taught 1st grade for a
semester, 2nd grade for two years, and just finished up my 2nd year in 4th
grade. I was chosen as the Elks Teacher of the Year in 2007-2008 for lower
elementary, which was such an honor because I was such a new teacher! :) I
absolutely LOVE Abney and I'm so proud to work here!
**I have been married to my wonderful husband for 9 years and we have two
beautiful boys together, Jackson and Jake. We also have the cutest little 2
pound chihuahua; her name is Cena!
***I graduated from LSU in 2000 with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. I
was a FINS Officer for one year and then became a Truancy Officer for five
years.... so...I know how important attendance is to the education of a
child! I have a lot of experience working with parents and children!
****I decided to go back to school to pursue my Master's Degree. I received
a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Southeastern Louisiana University in
December, 2006....and have been loving every minute of teaching!
*****I have just recently received an add-on certification in Educational
Leadership. My goal in the future is to become an Assistant Principal!
****I am a very vibrant and fun-loving teacher! We have lots of fun in my
classroom, and the learning is constant! I implement many things
in my classroom including: PBS, KAGAN, and CHAMPs. I am trained in the
following: Thinking Maps, Write From the Beginning, INTECH, KAGAN, CHAMPs,
DIBELS, Win-Win Discipline, Promethean Board (activInspire/Studio), I can
also supervise a student teacher in my classroom (which I have), and I am the
sponsor of the Abney Spartan Stompers Dance Team!
*****I love coffee from Starbucks and McDonalds. I absolutely LOVE the
SAINTS (Scott Fujita is my ALL TIME FAVORITE...even though he left us)!!!
****** GO LEAP!******
My mission is for every child to learn and succeed on his or her level. I
want to make learning a fun and memorable experience!!! Learning should be
CELEBRATED! With the right attitude, skills, and dedication....EVERYONE can
LEARN!!!
