"Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood." -Fred Rogers

"I tried to teach a child with books;
He gave me only puzzled looks.
I tried to teach a child with words;
They passed by him often unheard.
Despairingly, I turned aside
"How shall I teach this child," I cried?
Into my hand he put the key,
"Come," he said, "And play with me".

Hi, my name is Brittany Gomez Ponvelle. I graduated high school from Hahnville High School in 2002. I graduated college in 2005 from Nicholls State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. I am certified to teach grades Pre-K through 8. In August of 2009, I will be starting my M.Ed. for Early Childhood Education/Early Intervention while I stay at home with my baby! I plan to return back to teaching when I am finished my Masters & my baby is a little older. I do believe that the first three years of a child's life should be mainly with their mother! So, all of you, stay-at-home moms- you're doing the greatest thing for your child! I do believe that some people cannot afford it, & that's understandable! I am a member of the American Federation of Teachers, Louisiana Association of Educators, & Louisiana Council for Social Studies. One of my favorite teachers whom I learned a great deal from is Mrs. Cindy LeBeouf. I student-taught with her in the first grade. Some other fantastic teachers who are retired include my grandma and grandpa (Cookie & Dolores Gomez). :-)

 The Teacher said to her students, "Come to the edge." They replied, "We might fall." The teacher again said, "Come to the edge." and they responded, "It's too high!" "Come to the edge!" the teacher demanded. And they came- and the teacher pushed them- & they Flew.

This was a brown pelican diving in the water for some food. I must have watched him dive over twenty times in the water!

This is my dog, Gracie. She enjoys hanging around the house, going to the beach, and hanging out at Cooper's during closed hours to chase the ducks!
