Dear Parents,
Tomorrow is the last day for fieldtrip money and note. Please
try your best to meet the deadline. It would be terrible if your child did
not get to attend with his class.$15.00 plus the assigned permission slip. If
you lost the slip,send money and I will send another note home.This deadline
was imposed by the office so I may not be able to help if you miss out.
I am still looking for volunteers to work the soft drink booth
on Saturday, March 20,2010.It entails an 2 hour shift. Choices are 4PM-6PM or
6PM-8PM. All kindergarten students will be singing Saturday afternoon at the
Supershowcase.Time to be announced.(approx: between 4PM-6PM) We are in need
of green food for St. Patrick's Day.See note that is attached for details.
This week we will begin working on the Theme:" Seeds and Plants".
We will be working on the letter and sound of "Z".We will be sorting
pictures that begin and end with the "Z"sound, and practice writing both the
capital and lowercase letters "Zz".Our shared reading stories of the week
are Seed Secrets, and several St. Patrick Day books. We will
continue to work in Literacy Stations this week.These are small group
stations which include activities for students to work on that relate to
what we are learning during whole group instruction.We are also working on
retelling in sequence and predictions.We will explore phonemic
awareness,sounds of letters are rhyming words.Sight words the students need
to recognize are " zero", "zoo". Report cards will be sent home Thursday.

In Math,we will introduce the new calendar for the month of
March.We will begin our nickel toss daily.We will use vocabulary words to
desribe the sizes on the calendar: small,little,tiny,middle-sizes,medium or
in-between,large big,bigger and biggest.Please have your child practice
writing his/her last name nightly. Everyday they are asked to put their name
on their work.Please send in this practice.We will continue to review 1 - 50
and patterning, focusing on AB,ABC,AAB patterns.Please practice writing 1-50
at home.
Everyday your child will have 30 minutes on computer to work on
phonics through games.This is a new kindergarten program to help all
students. In a few weeks, my students should be able to get on this
program.I have an exciting year planned, full of opportunities for learning
and growing. Your child will be studying about many aspects of life
including; self, home, family, and community throughout the year. An
academic curriculum has also been set by Louisiana and St. Tammany Parish's
high standards and benchmarks.
