Homework

Reading

You will have some reading time each day in class. Depending on your reading rate, you may be able to
complete your reading during that time. Whatever reading you are unable to complete during that time
becomes homework. Independent reading assignments based on your novel will be completed in class
and will be graded.

Read your independent novel each day-including weekends. This means you have 14 days to complete
your reading. When you check out a novel every 2 weeks, you are required to calculate how many
chapters you must read each day in order to complete your novel in a timely manner.

Example:

-Class checks out new books on Friday, August 12th.
-Students calculate number of chapters to be read each night (14 days) in order to complete the
reading by Thursday night, August 25th.
-Students complete assigned novel activity in class on Friday, August 26th.
