KAREN PAYNE'S PASSPORT TO LOUISIANA HISTORY |
Current EventsLouisiana History - News Report You will be doing weekly news reports for the third quarter from either The Times-Picayune or the Slidell paper. If you do not currently receive The Times-Picayune, get one from a neighbor or relative. There are different topics that must be covered each quarter. In no particular order they are: 1) Louisiana state government 2) Slidell or St. Tammany Parish 3) The President’s activities (Parish President) 4) Louisiana college, high school, or professional sports 5) New Orleans 6) Louisiana human interest story 7) Editorial 8) Any Louisiana topic of your choice HOW: You must cut out (not rip) an article from The Times-Picayune, etc., attach it, and summarize the article in a multi-paragraph report (at least 3 paragraphs) written in your own words. If you cannot write multi-paragraphs, then your article is too short. Correct spelling, grammar, sentence and paragraph structure is required. You must include the name of the paper used, the date, the section (Sports, Money, Slidell Picayune, Metro, Living, etc.), the page number, and the topic number (#1-8). In order to complete this assignment correctly, you must read the article in advance. You may type or hand-write the summary; however, if the writing is illegible, no credit will be given. WHEN: Reports are due on Friday and are worth 50 points. Late reports are not accepted. |
