Monthly Community Meetings are held throughout the school year for parents,
students, employees and any other interested area residents, to discuss
local, state and federal education issues, and to enjoy meeting & exchanging
ideas with other parents.
These Community Meetings are designed for the public – the parents of
students in: Cypress Cove, Honey Island, Whispering Forest, Little Oak, Boyet
Jr. High, Clearwood Jr. High, Northshore High, Slidell High, and even the
Salmen and Pearl River feeder systems. Some of you live in District 15, even
thought your children don’t attend the Military Road schools. (We’ll discuss
why the board member district lines are like they are at our first meeting;
we know it’s often confusing.)
The way we see it, we’re all in this together! Our boundaries meet, and our
education issues overlap.
Besides Robin and me, School Board President John Lamarque often joins us for
these information sessions.
When: Our meetings are held on the first Monday of each month -- except in
June and July. Dates may change periodically, to avoid scheduling conflicts,
such as avoiding the first day of school, holidays and school or community
events.
Where: Our joint meetings are held at 7:00 p.m., in the Boyet Jr. High
Cafeteria. (East Gause past the Times-Picayune building, to Pearl St., 2
short blocks to a left on Rebel Drive.)
