About The Teacher

I graduated from Magnet High in 1997. I feel incredibly privileged to teach
Magnet students. After all, Magnet students are the BEST!

When I am not shaping young minds, I enjoy traveling, cooking, reading, and
spending time with my loved ones. I have been to 16 different countries,
including Kenya, Greece, and England. During Thanksgiving Break 2012 I will
be taking a group of students to England and Scotland. On my travels,
I have had the chance to sample many different kinds of food.
Currently my favorite food is anything Mediterranean. I love learning how to
cook exotic dishes; sometimes the food tastes great, and at other times even
my dog won’t eat it.

I love getting lost in a good book, and I am always looking for new books to
read. Feel free to email me a list of your Top 10 Books You Must Read. Make
sure you include you name with the list. I am a huge Harry Potter fan. I can't
believe the series is over, although I must admit I was satisfied with the
finish. I can't wait to read all of the books again! I loved how the last
movie played out. I think the movie makers did the story justice. I am not
ashamed to admit that I cried like a baby when we got to see Snape's
memories. I can't believe it's over. JK we want more!!

I have a beagle named Lucille Bean Anderson, whom I rescued almost ten years
ago. She is a bit sassy, but I think this is due to the fact that she
doesn't understand that she is indeed a dog. You will hear about Lucy and
her exploits throughout the year.

I look forward to getting to know each of you this year.

Here is my current Top 10 novels: (in no particular order)
1. Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austin
2. Anything Harry Potter (I am lumping the entire series together.)
3. Cat's Cradle, Kurt Vonnegut
4. The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, Michael Chabon
5. The Know-It-All, A.J. Jacobs
6. Neverwhere, Neill Gaiman
7. The Lord of the Rings (the entire trilogy)
8. The Book Theif, Markus Zusaks
9. Ender's Game, Orson Scott Card
10. Pillars of the Earth, Ken Follet

Mission For My Classes

I want to create a positive learning environment, which cultivates creative
discourse and original expression. I want to encourage students to
continuously seek to learn all they can about the world around them and to
connect with others.
