A Dedicated Team of Students and Teachers
The REACH Academy at Captain Shreve High School has reinvented the traditions
and expectations of the high school classroom through quality instruction and
a consistent focus on common instructional strategies in a student-centered
classroom. A special team of teachers and support professionals works with
ninth grade students to develop nurturing relationships aimed at improving
student work and achievement. Teachers are supported continually by teaching
artist and educational consultant, Dr. Sherry Kerr, as they create authentic
applications for student learning. Throughout the year, students use
innovative approaches to technology, including the use of blogs, wikis,
podcasts, and intensive institutes with the teaching artist. These highly
interactive sessions will provide relevant applications of student learning
and inform career and college planning.
