When is tutoring?
Tutoring is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays both morning
(7:45 - 8:15)
and afternoon (3:45 - 4:15) by appointment. Remember that you
will need a pass from me the day before to enter or remain in the
building.
How do I make up missed work from an excused absence?
You have three days from the date of your return (unless you were
gone more
than three days) to complete the missed assignments and show them
to me.
Remember, it is your responsibility to show me the work as I will
not
remember to ask you for it. The same goes for tests - if you
miss a test,
it is your responsibility to make it up as soon as possible.
What is the grading scale?
Grade Scale:
50% Tests
10% Homework Checks and Logs
15% Projects
15% In Class Work
10% Quizzes
Do you take late work?
I do not accept late work unless you have an excused absence. If
you miss a quiz, test, or in class work, it will count as a zero
unless you have an excused absence.
How do tests and quizzes work?
For quizzes, you are allowed to use your notes and homework on
every one
unless otherwise instructed. For tests, there are 2 parts: a
take-home
part and a traditional in-class part. The take-home part will
count as 20%
of your overall test grade and the in-class part for the 80%.
Do I have to buy a graphing calculator?
You are NOT REQUIRED to have a graphing calculator. However, we
will begin
to learn how to use them this year and if you plan on continuing
to take
higher level math courses or go to college, then the sooner you
obtain one,
the better. Purchased new, they cost around $120, but you can
get a used
one on Ebay for much less. (They are very durable.) Please
purchase only
the Texas Instruments TI-83 or TI-84 regular or plus editions
only as this
is the only type we will use together as a class.
