What is the make up work policy?
Captain Shreve follows the Caddo Parish make up policy.
You have two (2) days to bring in your excuse and get an admit
from the office. You have three (3) days to make up work if your
absence is excused.
If your excused absence was for more than three days, you have
the same number of days to make up work as your absences.
Unexcused absences do not allow for make up work.
Labs cannot be made up. Excused absences for lab dates will not
be counted in your total points at the end of the semester.
When do I turn in homework?
If homework is assigned, it is to be turned in at the beginning
of class on the due date. Late work ("It's in my car and I can
get it to you by the end of the day!") is NOT accepted. If you
are absent on the day homework is due, and your absence is
excused, it is due on the day you return to school, at
the beginning of class.
What if I miss a review class before a major test?
Sorry to inform you, but reviews are not subject to make up. They
are simply what their name implies, a review of the major topics
covered prior to a test. There will be no new material introduced.
When may I come in for extra help?
I am in my classroom everyday at 7:30a.m. Afternoon appointments
can be made a couple of days in advance.
Please come to these tutoring sessions with specific questions.
What happens if I am not prepared for lab? (open-toed shoes)
Due to safety concerns, you will not be allowed to participate in
lab experiments if you forget to wear the appropriate clothing.
If you do not have proper and safe clothing, you will be given an
alternative assignment to complete in the classroom.
Unfortunately, you will be penalized approximately 15% for coming
to class unprepared.
How can I see my current grade?
Go to the Caddo Parish School Board website and click
the "Student Progress Center" link under the "Parents & Students"
tab. Log in or register as a new user. The PSN is the student's
last five digits of his/her social security number. This number
is required for first-time registrants.
Will there be any notification of updated grades?
The attendance system Caddo Parish is using (JPAMs) will notify
you by telephone for new grades, bad grades, new assignments, and
missing assignments. If you are registered as discussed in the
previous question, the message center will also notify you.
