WELCOME to the 2011/2012 school year. I hope that this year will be a much
more productive year than last. Guys, we need to get on the move with our
volunteer opportunities. Last year's monthly averages were less than an hour
per member each month. Only about 10 or so members actually qualify for
automatic membership renewal this year - everyone else will have to retest
and state why you were unable to fulfill your 50 hours of community service.
If you do not feel that you are up for the challenge, then I strongly
recommend that you focus your attentions elsewhere. This year, you will be
required to help with the District 7 workshop/rally held here at Captain
Shreve on November 12. NO EXCUSES FOR NOT BEING THERE on that date!!!! If
you are not willing to serve to help during after school events, then you
will not be allowed to miss any school days to work elementary carnivals or
field days. There are opportunities all over Shreveport/Bossier for you to
become an active participant. Do not wait on me or the school to provide you
with all of your opportunities for service.
Go by Simms' room(A209) to pick up your application before August 26 -
Applications will be due on September 1 and the first meeting will be
scheduled for 7:45 September 8 in the auditorium. YOU MUST BE IN ATTENDANCE
if you want to be considered for membership.
SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES:
Book Bazaar at Centenary Gold Dome: Sign up BEFORE August 31st. If you sign
up, but you do not show up, that will be grounds for automatic dismissal from
the Key Club organization. They will be expecting you to show up for your
appointed time and cannot function properly if they are running short on
help.
See Mr. Simms Door - there are several opportunities for service. Sign up
ONLY IF YOU KNOW you can attend.
Dues are due by September 28, 2011. No dues will be accepted after this
time.
