Do I have to be able to read music before joining the band?
Students learn to read music in the class. No prior musical experience isrequired to join the Clearwood Band.Back to Top

Does the band go on field trips?
The Clearwood Band has several school performances and a few field tripsduring the year. The 5th grade beginner band only performs a few times in thespring. The Jr. High students perform approximately 12 - 15 times during theschool year. (sometimes more)Back to Top

Do you have to own an instrument to join the band?
In most cases, yes. We do have some school - owned "high need" instruments. Students do need to purchase a mouthpiece of their own to play these. Theseinstruments are: Horn, Euphonium, and Tuba. The band also furnishes a lot ofthe percussion instruments. Percussion students should have a snare drum,bell kit, concert sticks and bell mallets.Back to Top
