Behavior

Behavior Expectations

Fish Philosophy: The FISH philosophy is the keystone of our parish, school, and classroom behavior program. It is a positive program with 4 basic tenets:

1.               Have fun Learning!

2.             Be there for others and for learning!

3.             Make someone’s day!

4.             Choose your attitude!

Bullying: Our school is and must remain a SAFE place for all who attend. Bullying other students through verbal or physical means is not acceptable.

Filling Buckets:

This is a new concept this year. If your child comes home talking about “filling buckets” this is what it is all about.

We have read the book, Have You Filled a Bucket Today? by Carol McCloud. This book encourages children to engage in positive behavior and see how rewarding it is to express daily kindness, appreciation, and love toward others. The book explains that we all carry invisible buckets in which we keep our feelings about ourselves. When our buckets are full we are happy; and when they are empty we are sad. We can fill our own and other’s buckets by saying and doing nice things to and for the people around us.

Classroom Rules and Consequences:

Classroom Rules:

1.               Stay in your seat

2.             Raise your hand

3.             Be polite

4.             Follow Directions

5.             Always try to fish

Classroom Consequences:

1.               Warning

2.             Move to yellow.

3.             Lose yellow and privileges

4.             Call parents and removal from class

Students can earn pulled fishermen “back” through deciding to “choose a positive attitude” and demonstrating improved behavior.

When your child begins to experience behavioral difficulties, it is important that we communicate to determine how we can work together to help your child to learn and grow more effectively.

If I see significant changes in behavior I will usually contact you either by phone or in writing. When stressful events occur in the home they are often reflected in the child’s behavior at school. It can be helpful if you send me a note or call if you are concerned that this may happen so that I can respond appropriately to any emotional behaviors the child displays.

Rewards

Good behavior is rewarded with stickers that earn selections from the Treasure Box. I have some great items in the box this year and look forward to giving them to deserving students!

How to Earn Stickers and Fish in the Bowl in Mrs. Stuker’s Class

You will earn one sticker per week for:

Ø   Perfect Attendance

Ø      Completed Math Packet (math students only)

Ø   Completed Language Packet

Ø   Completed Homework in the notebook

Ø Staying on Green behavior all week (You will lose this sticker if you are moved even if you earn the green fishing man back later.)

Ø   bringing my blue and yellow folder to  class every day this week.

What Is My Reward?

I get one sticker on my chart for each of these things I do all week. When I get 15 stickers, I can pick out of the prize box! YEA!

                        AND

If I do not lose any stickers ALL WEEK I will get a Super Fisherman ticket to go in the fish bowl for the fishing party at the end of the month! YOU ARE FABULOUS!

I can also earn more fish in the bowl from my teachers and other teachers when I am caught fishing anytime.

BUT REMEMBER fish can jump out of the bowl! You must fish everyday to stay in the bowl for the fishing party.
