Welcome to our class website!! I am so excited to be your child's teacher
and look forward to working together to make sure that your child has the
best possible year. It is very important to me that my classroom environment
is one in which each of my students feels valued and respected by all. I
want my students to feel confident in their abilities and open to new ideas
and ways of doing things.
I have been teaching for 27 years in St. Tammany Parish, 25 of those
years at Covington Elementary. I graduated from Mississippi State University
in 1975 with a Bachelor's degree in Education and a Master's Degree in
Special Education with certification as a Reading Specialist in 1977. I
love to teach and hope to instill a love for learning in each of my students.
As a teacher, my main goal for each of my students is that they strive to
become confident and responsible learners. My job is to provide a positive,
structured environment which allows them to take risks and believe that they
are strong, capable learners. The classroom environment I strive to create
is one that is based on mutual respect and acceptance of ourselves and
others. Above all else, I want my students to know that they each have
something valuable to share and contribute.
