Announcements

Happy New Year Class of 2012!

Week of January 2-6, 2012

I look forward to working with each of you 2nd Semester in the Senior Internship Program.  To access your Timesheets, click on the Internship tab to the left of this screen.  It is very important that you print the timesheet with the correct date for that week.   If you have any problems printing a timesheet, please stop by my office and pick up a copy.  All timesheets should have the assignment stapled to the back of it and are due every Friday or the following Monday.  After Monday, the timesheets are considered late and 5 points will be deducted for each day they are late.

Please be sure that you turned in your On-Site Application Forms to me by Monday, January 9.  An application is needed for each Internship class that you have.  For example, if you have the same teacher for both Internships, you only need one application, but if you have two different teachers for your two Internships, you will need to submit two applications.

If you did not come to the meeting in the Library during your Internship hour on Tuesday, please stop by my office and see me.

This semester I am not requiring you to write a reflection each week.  In place of the reflection, you will have an assignment due each week.  Your assignment for this week (Week 1) is to turn in a completed IGP stapled to the back of your timesheet
.

If you would like to know when Interims are being distributed and when exam week begins, click on the Class Calendar at the top left of the screen.  I want to encourage each of you to be in attendance every day and turn in your paperwork on time so that you can pull up your GPA.  Graduation is right around the corner!

Week of January 9-13, 2012

This week's timesheet is uploaded to this website under the Internship tab or you may pick one up in my office.  The assignment this week is to complete a Job Application.  Please read the tips and instructions attached to the job application before you fill it out!

The Job Application Packets are located on top of the filing cabinet where you turn in your timesheets.  Remember, if you turn in more than one timesheet, you should make a copy of the last two pages of your application (pp. 38-39) and staple it to the second timesheet.  You may submit this week's timesheet on Tuesday without a penalty.  If you have any questions, please see me.

Have a great three-day weekend and be safe!

Week of January 16-20, 2012

Your Week 3 Timesheets are now available online.  You may pick up a Week 3 Assignment in my office which is located on top of the filing cabinet.  This week's assignment is to compose a letter requesting an interview.  Please read all the related information and instructions before beginning your rough draft.  Also, please make a copy of your rough draft because you will need it for the Week 4 assignment.

Your Week 4 assignment will consist of typing your rough draft in the correct letter format that I will furnish.  If you have any questions, stop by my office to see me.  Please make sure that your timesheets have the correct date, a mentor signature, and a number grade before you turn them in.

I would suggest to each of you to check STI Home at least once a week to be sure you are not missing any grades and that your Internship grade is what you think it should be.  See me as soon as possible if you have any concerns!

Week of January 23-27, 2012

Your Week 4 Timesheet and Assignment are now available online or you may pick up a copy in my office.  This week's assignment is to type the Letter of Application that you composed last week in the Personal-Business Letter Format that I have provided for you.  Be sure to keep the letter format because we will be using it again in a couple of weeks.

It would be a good idea to purchase a 1/2" binder to house your assignments for the Job-Search Portfolio that you are building.  At the end of the nine weeks, I will give back your assignments to include in your portfolio.  This portfolio will be a project grade at the end of the semester.  If you have any questions, please drop by and see me.

Week of January 30 - February 3, 2012

Your Week 5 Timesheet is now available online and your assignment is ready for you to pick up in my office.  For the next three weeks, we will be covering the Job Interview.  I have given you 27 questions that prospective employers could ask you on an Interview.  Please answer the questions on a separate sheet of paper and attach the answers to the back of your timesheet when you turn it in.  Please keep the handout for your Job Search Portfolio.

Week of  February 6 - 10, 2012

Your Week 6 Timesheet is now available online and your assignment is ready for pick up in my office.  This week's assignment consists of the questions that prospective employers could ask you on an interview.  Please read the handout and answer questions 28-50.  Be sure and look at the questions that you may want to ask the person interviewing you.  You should ask at least two questions on your interview because that shows that you are interested in the position. Please answer the questions on a separate sheet and attach the answers to the back of your timesheet when you submit it.

Please keep the handout for your Job Search Portfolio which will be due soon.  If you have any questions, please stop by and see me!
