Homework

Week of November 30 , 2009

Social Studies- We discussed the Stamp Act, Intolerable Acts, Tea Act, and
the Quartering Act. We will discuss the Boston Tea Party on Monday. A study
guide will go home on Monday. We began our unit on government and how it ties
into the Revolutionary War. We will learn about the history of our government
and its components during the three weeks before the Christmas break.
Disuss taxes with your child at home. If you show interest in this subject,
they will take interest in this subject. The mind of a child never ceases to
amaze me. They truly are sponges; soaking in every detail.

Reading- Comprehension, locating details, and fluency will be the main focus
for the next three weeks. A review of author's purpose, character traits,
cause and effect, and drawing conclusions will be done over the next few
weeks. Study guides are sent home on Monday of each week.

English-We will continue to discuss proper nouns, possessive nouns, and
plural possessive nouns. A list of all skills learned up to date will go home
by December 7, 2009.
A writing assignment will be issued once a month. I was very pleased with the
writings on the colonies. The writing for December will be narrative writing
with the topic sentence starting as a setting. Last month the "hook" was used
in the topic sentence as a question. Showing voice in writing was also a
focus.
