For 3rd Graders to Be

The transition from 2nd grade to 3rd grade is always such a shock for
students and parents, so I asked my veteran 3rd graders to offer some words
of wisdom to 2nd grade students concerning things they need to know before
they come to 3rd grade. Their answers were very wise!

1. Know your addition and subtraction facts before you get to 3rd grade.

2. Work on your multiplication facts!

3. Do your homework.

4. Take your time when doing an assignment.

5. Don't waste time.

6. Read directions carefully.

7. Have your materials at school and be ready to work.

8. It is not your mom's (dad's, grandmother's) responsibility to make sure
you have your materials. It is your responsibility.

9. READ! READ! READ! You must read and pass AR tests!

10. Don't talk during quiet time.

11. Don't talk when Mrs. Ginn is talking.

12. We do not pull colors, sticks, and so on in 3rd grade. You get conduct
marks.

13. WORK EVERY ASSIGNMENT AS IF IT IS FOR A GRADE! (This is Mrs. Ginn's
favorite!)

14. Always do your best.

15. Respect others and yourself.
