We are off to a great start and have lots of great
programs and concerts planned for the year. Please check the enrichment
calendar for rehearsals and concerts throughout the year.
The first program of the year was on October 18 with the 4th and 5th grades.
What a fantastic time we had! The 2nd and 3rd graders followed that with A
Pirate Christmas on December 6. I hope you got to see the programs. They
did an excellent job.
Louisiana All State was part of the LA American Choral Directors
Convention in Baton Rouge from October 27-29, 2011. Fairfield had 11 singers
participate. The singers had a good time and learned a lot about music and
performance.
The Caddo-Bossier Select Choir rehearsal and performance was on Friday,
November 11, 2011. The singers spent the day working with Dr. LaBruyere and
performed for parents and friends that evening. The choir performed two
concerts with the Shreveport Symphony in their Christmas Pops Concert. Did
you see their pictures in The Times?
The K and 1st grades are beginning their program, BUGZ!, to be performed on
Tuesday, March 13. Permission slips will go home on Tuesday, January 17.
They need to be returned by Friday, January 20.
District Choir Festival will be held Thursday, March 8 in Shreveport. The
choir spring concert will be Saturday, April 14 so add that to your
calendars. The State Choral Festival will be in Natchitoches, LA on
Thursday, May 3.
The parish program, Showcase, will feature 5th graders from schools in Caddo
Parish and be a part of Artbreak on Saturday, April 28.
