**NO WRITTEN HOMEWORK TO BE RETURNED THIS WEEK -- (MAY 21-25 & MAY 29-30)**
END OF THE YEAR WRAP UP -- MAY 21-25 & 29-30, 2012
Dear Parents,
The last 7 days of school will be the end of the year wrap up for Taylor's
Terrific Dinosaurs. The agenda during these seven days will include the
following:
21 - MONDAY - ACCELERATED READING/ACCELERATED MATH DAY - The students will
spend time reading and listening to AR books, which they will take a
computerized test on. They will also practice and test on previous taught
math skills, using a computerized scan sheet to bubble in their answers.
22 - TUESDAY - INSTRUCTIONAL CENTER DAY -- The students will review and
practice skills they have learned throughout the school year in a fun way.
Each student will work cooperatively with hi/her peer buddy throughout the
day, rotating from one center to another using manipulatives, hands-on, and
computer activities to review and reinforce previous taught skills.
23 - WEDNESDAY - FIELD TRIP DAY - The class will go on our last field trip for
this school year. We will truly look forward to having a great adventure
hiking through the woods learning more about nature and everything around us
at Walter B. Jacob Nature Park. Students may wear their blue Field Day
t-shirts and blue jeans. Parents, please spray your child with bug spray
before he/she comes to school. If you send your child's lunch to school,
please put it in a ziploc bag with his/her name on it. We will be leaving
the school at 8:15 a.m.
and returning around 1:30 p.m.
24 - THURSDAY - HONORS ASSEMBLY/READ-IN AND CLEAN-UP DAY - We will start this
day by attending the Honor's Day Assembly in the auditorium at 9:15 a.mm. The
students will spend most this day reading and listening to stories. Your
child may bring his/her favorite books form home or he/she may read books from
the classroom library. Your child may also bring a very small stuff animal to
school on this day. We will end this day by working together to start
cleaning up our classroom and getting it in tip top shape for our summer
vacation.
25 - FRIDAY - MOVIE/GAME AND CLEAN-UP DAY CONTINUES - The Terrific Dinosaurs
will have fun watching movies and playing different games with his/her buddy.
Your child may bring his/her favorite board game on this day. Please write
your child's name on the game. We will end this day by continuing our
cleaning process from yesterday for our classroom.
28 - MONDAY - MEMORIAL DAY HOLIDAY -- NO SCHOOL!!!
29 - TUESDAY - MEMORY BOOK SIGNING/VIEWING MEMORY VIDEO AND END OF THE YEAR
PARTY -- We will start the day sharing special memories of our terrific first
grade year by signing each others memory book and watching a special memory
video featuring our first grade year in Taylor's Terrific Dinosaur Land. We
will end the day outside on the front playground with our Aloha-First Grade
Party starting at 12:45. Bring Hawaiian shirts, shorts, dresses, sunglasses,
etc. to put on after lunch.
30 - WEDNESDAY - MOVIE/POPCORN AND PROCESS WRITING DAY--"Memories and
Expectations" -- Taylor's Terrific Dinosaurs will spend part of this day
watching movies and eating popcorn. Students will end the last day of first
grade by participating in a class discussion about their favorite memories in
first grade and their expectation for second grade. After the class
discussion, each student will illustrate and write about his/her favorite
first grade memories and second grade expectations.

YOUR CHILD CLEAN OUT HIS/HER BACKPACK EACH NIGHT TO MAKE ROOM FOR THE NEXT
