What does the lab fee cover?

The Foods and/or ProStart lab fee is $20/semester. It is used to pay for
groceries for cooking and food science labs, and it is also used to cover
cleaning supplies and paper products. You may pay using cash, check(payable to
FHS), or credit card (using the "pay schools" feature on the school website).

Do we cook and eat every day?

Nutrition & Foods classes cook 2 days/week, every other week (after the fourth
week), and
ProStart classes cook 2-3 days/week. All classes have written coursework to
complete, so it is impossible to cook every day. Some recipes are divided into
multi-day labs, so you might not always eat on days that you cook. The goal of
labs is developing your skills...you are not guaranteed a daily meal.

Are we required to wash dishes?

Yes. Everyone who participates in lab activities is expected to properly wash
dishes. You are also expected to sweep, mop, and clean and sanitize all
surfaces to leave your kitchen in the condition in which you found it. Kitchen
safety and sanitation comprise a portion of EVERY lab grade.
