Here are two terrific ways to ring in the New Year from the January issue of Web Create Newsletter:
1) In January, have your students look back at the events of 2002 to create an
online timeline. Ask them to identify the most significant world, local, and
school events of the year. They can research these events and write short
summaries to include on the timeline. Post the completed timeline on your
website.
2) Create a digital time capsule with your students, and post it on your website.
Ask your students to name a few of their favorite things to generate a class
list of "bests." Topics can include best school lunch, field trip, class
assignment, song, musical group, movie, book, and so on. Have your students
write short captions explaining their choices. Add sketches, photographs, or
scanned photos. Then build the page on your website using the Showcase Template.
Take a look back at 2002, and have your class put together the digital time
capsule as a class project this January.
