Classroom Discipline Plan

It is my goal to create a safe and comfortable learning environment for your
child. It is important to me that we establish a classroom behavior plan
that will enable your child to grow academically and socially. My job is not
only to teach content, but also to teach appropriate school behavior. Honey
Island Elementary will follow a school-wide positive behavior plan titled
CHAMPS. The purpose of this plan is to develop a classroom of students who
are responsible, motivated, and highly engaged in meaningful tasks. With
this in mind, I have created the following classroom discipline plan. Please
review this plan with your child tonight. Thank you for your support.

Our Classroom Guidelines:
1.	Be There- You are an active listener and learner at all times. This
means you are listening with both your eyes and ears.
2.	Make Their Day- Try extra hard to do something special for someone
in our class and to always be helpful.
3.	Choose Your Attitude- You must accept full responsibility for your
choices and attitude. Think about how your attitude will affect those around
you!
4.	Have Fun- Learning is FUN! If we are being there, choosing our
attitudes, and making someone’s day then we are having fun!

Our Classroom Vision:
1. To create a classroom community where everyone feels safe and respected.
2. To treat each other in a friendly way which means to use kind words and
to do nice things for each other.
3. To keep a clean and organized classroom throughout the year.
4. To achieve success in our studies through hard work and cooperation.

Our Classroom Rules:
1. Be kind and respectful to your classmates and teacher
2. Keep hands, feet, and other objects to yourself and use friendly language
3. Finish all assignments on time
4. Follow ALL expectations on the CHAMPS board

Positive Reinforcements for Good Behavior:
1.. Classroom Treasure Box- Your child will visit the treasure box on Friday
if he or she has demonstrated good behavior for the week.
2. Buzz Bucks- Your child will receive a buzz buck if he or she is “caught”
living the Fish Philosophy.
3. CHAMPO- When our entire class is meeting all classroom guidelines and
following classroom rules, this will result in a CHAMPO moment. When our
class earns 25 CHAMPOS we will be recognized on WHIE and rewarded with a
celebration.
4. Verbal Praise
5. Special Time- Maybe lunch with Ms. Onstad!
6. Good News Call- You may receive a phone call from Mrs. Ward, our assistant
prinicipal, about your child's positive behavior.

Consequences:
1. Try it again with a given choice or time
2. Classroom Cool Down (A brief time out in the classroom to reflect on our
choices.)
More Significant Consequences (Will result in documented behavior
reflections):
2. Time out in another location to reflect on our choices
3. Loss of free time (We will practice and discuss the correct behavior.)
4. Parent conference about behavior
5. Conference with administration

If your child is required to complete a behavior reflection, it will be sent
home to be signed and returned to school the following day. If you do not
hear from me, in regards to your child’s behavior, please know
your child is meeting all classroom expectations!!
