Dear Parents,

Welcome to Mrs. Jodi’s Kindergarten Class! I am very excited about the
new school year. This is my tenth year to teach Kindergarten. I grew up in
Baton Rouge and finished my Early Childhood Degree at LSU in 2000. I am
also a JGS parent too! My daughters, Emery and Ellison, are at JGS too!

Here’s some information about our classroom policies:

T.I.G.E.R. Book- There is a black binder in your child’s backpack everyday.
Please check this binder daily since all school correspondence will be
inside. I will check your child’s binder every morning; therefore, this is
the appropriate time to address any concerns or questions in writing. Please
e-mail me at jpipes@jesusgoodshepherd.org anytime! I will get back to you as
soon as I can.

Discipline- My approach with discipline is to discuss the inappropriate
behavior with the student and come to a better decision process in the
future. By discussing the behavior, the student might better comprehend how
his/her actions were inappropriate. My goal is to teach our students more
than academics. Social and ethical developments are valued at JGS and my
classroom. In your child's binder there is a monthly behavioral calendar,
you will to initial it every night.

Arrival and Departure- It is imperative that students arrive to school no
later than 8:00 a.m. After which, students will go to the office to receive
a tardy slip. Students who are tardy miss the morning lesson and interrupt
the learning process for their classmates.  School dismisses at 3:15 p.m;
however, our carpool will begin around 3:05. We ask that all students that
have younger siblings or no siblings to complete the carpool process between
3:05 and 3:15. If you have another student in grades 1st-6th, DO NOT GET IN
LINE BEFORE 3:10. You will be sent back around to the end of the line. We
do not let cars wait for the older students to arrive. It holds up the line
for the other people who are ready to call it a day!

Snacks and VIP- Each week one student will be our class VIP. They are the
leader of the week. On Fridays, the VIP will bring their favorite story for
me to read to the class. The VIP will also provide afternoon snacks for that
week. Please look for the VIP listed on your monthly calendar.

If you need to contact me, please call me during school hours or e-mail
me at jpipes@jesusgoodshepherd.org I would appreciate it if you would
contact via the school. I am looking forward to a highly productive year in
kindergarten!

Thank You,
Jodi Pipes
