Welcome to Kindergarten!

I am looking forward to a GREAT year. I will post announcments weekly here along with the Homework Letter Class Calendar and a few other things. Pleae feel free to email me blenard@jesusgoodshepherd.org if you have any questions.

**Please keep in mind that I do not sit at my desk all day so I may not be able to respond immediately.** It will most likely be during Recess (only if I do not have duty with the kids). But I will do my VERY best to respond as soon as possible.

Dropoff and Pick-up
You will drop the kids off near the gym, a 6th grader will be there to help your child out of the car and make sure they know where to go and sit with their class. My Class sits against the left wall of the gym(facing the bleachers). Parents are welcome to walk their kids into the gym on the first day but pleae keep in mind whatever you do on the first day, may be what they expect everyday.  Before school the Faculty meets daily for prayer so I will not be there until a few minutes before the 8am bell. Once the bell rings I will walk the students down to the class room to begin our day.

*Tips*
If you are excited about school they will be too, if you get teary eyed (I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL) they will pick up on that as well.

In the event of tears (from a child) on the first day, I will happily come and hold your childs hand. These tears only last while Mom and Dad are present. As heart breaking as it may be, a quick exit may be necessary. When talking to your kids before school please let them know that I truly love them and I am so excited to have them in my class.  

Pick-up
Kindergarten Pick-up line is along the black iron fence behind my classroom. Please hang the numbered car tag you receive at Round-UP in your rear view mirror so we can have your child ready when you pull up. We cannot see your faces in the car due to a glare on your window. PLEASE DO NOT GET OUT OF THE CAR! We will open the door and assist the kids into the car. If someone else is picking your child up please have them write the childs name or tag number in large print on a piece of paper to show through the window. Please make sure they know NOT TO GET OUT OF THE CAR! Car pick up can be very busy and slow in the beginning, please be patient.

Dress Code
Please see red handbook for more details. NO CROCS, boots or openned toe shoes. Tennis shoes are the most comfortable and the best for P.E. If your child cannot tie their shoes on their own please get Velcro shoes.

Boys: Red JGS Polo shirts and Navy Shorts. Mass- White JGS button up shirt and navy pants (NO SHORTS)

Girls: Red JGS Polo shirts or White Sailor shirt (must have ties) and Navy Shorts or Mass jumper. Mass-Kindergarten-3rd grade must wear JGS plaid Jumper with White JGS button up shirt. Please make sure they have gym shorts under their dresses so they can play on the playground.

Tiger Binders
Binders will go home everyday. Please check daily! Inside you will find the Class Rules, a Calendar of events, including VIP, Class Schedule, Conduct Sheet, Extra helps for handwriting and sight words.

Homework/Test
Homework wil be sent home on Monday and is due on Friday. Test will be sent home to be signed and returned by the next day or Monday. If papers are not returned I cannot continue to send them home.

Snacks

Nap
Nap time is 12:45-1:45. You may send a mat cover but is not nessesary. Please do not send blankets, pillows, or toys. I do not have room to store these items and they become a distraction and cause disruptions in the room. We listen to soft music during this time to help them relax.

Supplies
Supplies will be in the classroom waiting! Yippeee!!!
