The Arts

This year in Kindergarten, we are introducing an art curriculum.  Each month, beginning in September, the children will learn about a variety of art expressions.  There will be a composer, author, artist, poet, historical figure, and instrument studied each month.  On the last Monday of the month, the children will celebrate the people and music we learned about throughout the day.  We will journal to classical music, read poems, recreate a painting, have a special guest play the instrument of the month!

We invite our families to come enjoy a brown bag lunch on the last Monday of the month while we are entertained by our special guest(s) who will perform for us!  If you know anyone who plays any of the instruments we will be studying, please contact me!  We want our children to not only recognize the arts; but also, be inspired to contribute to the art community!

The Curriculum of the Arts yearly outline will be sent home the first week in September.  Mrs. Jodi and I have created the curriculum because we both dearly love music and art expression.  We hope to inspire other teachers and parents to embrace our art culture.
