What We Are Doing This Week:

 

Language Arts

 

    We will continue our Polar Unit (ArcticandAntarctic). We will continue to researchabout these polar places & the Iditarod. 3rdgrade will continue the novel Stone Fox2ndgrade – will read Officer Buckle which continues our a unit all about service dogs; 1stgrade will complete our research Australia/postcard andcompare & contrast Mardi Gras traditions. All students are learning cursive handwriting and will be expected tocontinue to practice neat handwriting even at home. We will start writing descriptive narratives – completing a descriptive shadow story. Language/grammar skill: descriptive words/phrases using prepositionsand review all previous language skills.


Math
    We will continue with addition/subtraction strategies and use multiplication to solve division problems. We will work with long division with remainders.  I would like for ALL students to memorize all basic +/- /x/division in order to help when regrouping and working with larger numbers.There are great websites that will help with basic +/- /x/ division facts on both my website and internet4classrooms.com. We will continue to use number sense when solving problems through our varied activities this week and use hands-on activities to explore mathematical strategies.   


Important Information: 


•Remember your child’s HOMEWORK SHEET/NEWSLETTER should be kept in his/her folder all week long & the behavior log needs to be signed every night.  Return VIP/signed papers each Thursday.

· We will continue to work independently and all will need to be responsible of work given. You can do it!!

· PTA News:
     o  Box tops/Labels for Education can be turned in for class prizes each month.

Relay for Life– Our school community would like to help raise awareness & money to help those who are battling cancer. We are selling links of love for 25c each or 5 for $1.  Also, there is a raffle $1 a ticket

Paper towel & toilet paper rolls we are collecting these items for our upcoming Art Day later this spring. If you have any of these, please send them in.
