A Glimpse of the Upcoming Week
Reading: The children and I will be reading Thanksgiving on Thursday (a Magic Tree House chapter book) highlighting historical facts and information related to the Thanksgiving holiday. Vocabulary, skills, and comprehension assessments will be taken from in-class activities and assignments. Spelling test on Thursday!
Writing: Students will work to improve their paragraph writing through an assignment focusing on the things in their lives that they feel thankful for.
Language Arts: In language arts, students will be learning about antonyms. We’ll also review previously learned synonym skills, and sentence punctuation skills. Test on Thursday!
Math: Multiplication and division continue to be the focus in math. Students will be working on multiplying with 7’s, 8’s and 9’s. Test will be on Tuesday following our Thanksgiving break!
Science: Thanksgiving is a good time to study the body’s digestive system as we anticipate the delicious, traditional foods associated with this time of the year. Students will learn the parts of the digestive system, their role in digesting foods, and additional facts associated with human digestion. Test will be on Wednesday (last week’s test was postponed)!
Social Studies: The history surrounding the 13 original colonies will be the focus in social studies as we continue learning about the Pilgrims, Native Americans, and the early history of America. Test on Thursday!
