A Glimpse of the Upcoming Week

 

Reading:  Realistic fiction will be the genre this week as children read the story My Very Own Room. Comprehension skills include making and confirming predictions, comparing and contrasting, and making personal connections to information from text.   Readingassessment will be on Thursday. Vocabulary test will be on Friday.

Spelling: Plural words will be our focus in spelling this week. Spelling test will be on Friday.

Writing: Students will be working on an explanatory writing piece this week.   

Language Arts:Contractions with the wordnotwill be the skill reviewed inL.A.this week.  Test is scheduled for Friday.

Math: Measurement continues as students learn to use measurement tools to identify feet, yards, and miles. Test is scheduled for Friday!

Science: We will begin a new unit of study featuring weather patterns this week.

Social Studies:Students will reviewLouisiananatural resources, animals ofLouisiana, and conservation efforts to help protect those resources. Last week’s test has been re-scheduled for Wednesday!

ØValentine’s Day card/treat exchange will take place on Tuesday in the classroom beginning at 2:00 p.m. Participation in this activity is voluntary; however, all children in class must be included in any card or treat hand-outs. Please be considerate of ALLchildren in our classroom family - thank you!
